Language Arts- In 2nd grade Language Arts, we focus on spelling, grammar, phonics-blends & digraphs, and learning our sight words.
Math-For 2nd grade Math, we primarily focus on 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction without carrying or borrowing. We also work on learning about the concept of greater than and less than.
Science-We will be studying living and non-living systems, animals-characteristics & classification of, animals’ life cycle, animal habitats, natural resources, seasonal cycles, the water cycle, the weather cycle, states of matter, simple machines, plants and their life cycle. Social Studies-We will be learning about modern culture, family structure, New York State history and culture, and New York State rivers and lakes.
* Even though there are no official state tests in 2nd grade, students are prepared throughout 2nd grade to begin taking the English Language Arts Test beginning in 3rd grade.
